Managing our Bamboo Forest for a better life

Synopsis:

In Laos bamboo is extensively used in everyday life, as a natural source of food, construction material and handicraft. This green gold plays an important role in the social and economic life of the Lao people, especially of those living in rural areas. With an original approach, the French NGO GRET is combining poverty reduction and sustainable development for the rural population in Laos. The following documentary shows how a “common” management of the bamboo recourses is strengthening the bamboo sector in the north of Laos.
